N. Billerica, Massachusetts (September 2004) - Radio Waves, Inc., The Leader in Microwave Antenna InnovationTM, has released a new 8 foot diameter high performance antenna in 6, 7, 8 and 10GHz versions. The new HP8 antennas are ideal for point-to-point and back haul applications as they offer minimal side lobe interference in links operating in areas of heavy usage. All the new HP8 series antennas meet FCC category A requirements.
A hybrid-Cassegrain feed delivers several benefits, most importantly excellent pattern performance where the beam is tightly focused with minimal spill over and no skewing between polarizations. Other benefits include higher antenna efficiency in a smaller package and lower wind loading. Further, the antenna features a lower profile that results in much better aesthetics, especially useful in areas where planning permission via zoning boards is an issue.
The hybrid-Cassegrain feed also provides inherent dual-polarisation capability through its circular waveguide. The addition of an Orthogonal Mode Transfer (OMT) device that is simply added to the feed then provides for dual polarisation that does not skew the patterns, as occurs with traditional rectangular waveguide feed systems.
Andy Singer, General Manager of Radio Waves stated “Like all our HP series antennas, the new HP8 offers leading edge performance and a robust design backed by Radio Waves’ industry-leading three-year warranty.”
